The Support Group was inaugurated at the 2024 AGM with the intention of assisting our u3a Organisers. Group members indicate their willingness to offer support, the Organisers list tasks needed and matches are made (by choice). Tasks may be short (e.g. 45 minutes helping to unload at the open day), or longer term (e.g. developing our Facebook page). The Support Group does not meet - organisation is via email. At the AGM, 10% of those present signed up! Sadly, there have been very few additional recruits. 

With 1900 members and 130 activity groups, our Organisers are heavily loaded. Ad Hoc appeals bring in some volunteers, but the Support Group should be able to offer more consolidated assistance. The continuing success of our u3a depends on the voluntary work of our Organisers and they need support. It is disappointing that only 1.2% of our members joined the Support Group. If the other 98.8% were able to offer just 1 hour per year, our organisers would benefit from 250 support days per year. Our u3a is worth it.
