On Tuesday 26 May 2026 Cheltenham u3a celebrated its 40th birthday, even though we came into being in 1985. We had to wait another year for our celebrations because only in 1986 were we incorporated into the u3a movement, becoming part of the family of more than 1000 u3a's in the UK.

We started with 7 Groups in 1985 and now we have almost 160 different interest groups, and our membership has grown to very close to 2200, one of the largest u3a's in England!

We had so many reasons to celebrate our 40th birthday with tea and cake and good company for everyone.

Here's to the next 40 year
