2nd Monday of month

This group is friendly and informal, and explores different destinations through presentations by members and occasional guest speakers, and subsequent informal discussion. It is aimed at 'armchair travellers' who enjoy learning about different parts of the world, as well as those sharing memories of past travel, or planning future trips. The programme tries to balance UK, European and further flung locations, and to cover all modes of transport, including bus, train and walking. It also tries to provide insights into the culture, cuisine, geography and history of destinations as well as the main travel highlights.

Recent sessions have included Argentina; the Netherlands; New York and New England; Spain by Train; Sardinia; the Canaries; Solo Travel, Thailand by Train; Japan; Vietnam and Travel Logistics (packing, recording etc.). Sessions in 2025 will include Corfu and Greek Islands; Costa Rica; the Danube; India; Portuguese Islands and Scotland. There also occasional spin offs such as restaurant meals and some members deciding to travel together.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The current venue is in central Cheltenham at the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) building, 1 Royal Crescent, Cheltenham, GL50 3DA. A taster session is free: thereafter attendees are asked to pay a 6 monthly subscription (currently £5) to cover room hire costs. Occasional attendance for specific topics is also possible.
